Data: AMFI end-of-year NAVs (2007 onwards) via captn3m0/historical-mf-data. AMFI consolidated NAV file starts April 2006, so 2007 is the first year with computable YoY returns. Sector representative: longest-history live fund per AMFI sector category. Benchmark: UTI Nifty Index Fund Regular Growth (the oldest broadly-available Nifty 50 tracker). "Dry period" = consecutive calendar years sector return lagged Nifty by > 2%. "Bounce-back" = 1Y return after dry period ends. Blank cells in early years usually mean the fund was renamed (scheme code changed) and earlier history sits under a different code.
